FAQ
Frequently asked questions
When do I need a transposer?
When you have a written piece (bhajan, ghazal, lesson exercise) in one Sa and you want to sing it in another. The transposer shifts every Sargam syllable up or down by a chosen number of semitones — preserving intervals while changing the absolute pitch.
Up to how many semitones?
Up to one full octave (±12 semitones) in either direction. Most singers need ±2–4 semitones to find their comfort zone.
Will the transposer change my komal/tivra notes?
No. Komal (lowercase) and tivra (Ma’) markings are preserved relative to Sa. Only the absolute pitch shifts; the raga’s scale is intact.
